Practice Profile
Introduction | Doctors
| Staff | Branch surgery
The practice has its roots in the 19th century, and is now based in excellent,
well equipped purpose built premises, offering a high quality surgery environment
for the patients and practice team alike.
The doctors, with the support of an effective primary health care
team, cater for approximately 8,600 patients spread throughout a large rural area
in the Ribble Valley.
The practice is a member of the “Ribble Valley Primary Care Group”
which represents GP's in Clitheroe, Whalley, Slaidburn and Longridge.
We provide a limited G.P. service to the rural community at our branch
surgery at Goosnargh.
The
practice has 16 members of staff which include a Practice Manager,
four part-time practice nurses, health vistors, district nurses, school nurses,
community midwives, a fundholding clerk, senior receptionist, computer operator
and eight receptionists.
The doctors have inpatient beds at Longridge Community Hospital. This
means patients needing hospital care but not ill enough to need to go to the hospital
in Preston can be cared for at Ribchester. Whilst in hospital patients are still
under the care and supervision of their own GP - Patients can also be transferred
to Ribchester from the Preston Hospital for further convalescence or rehabilitation
e.g. after surgery. Admissions are arranged by the Doctors.
The Medical practice has facilities for Mums and Toddlers, including a nappy
changing room and if you wish to feed your baby whilst in the practice
we can arrange a private room for you We have a designated play area
for children in the waiting room.
We welcome patients’ views on choosing priorities for the future. Please
contact the Practice Manager or alternatively why not join the
Patient Participation Group. |
