Branch surgery
Berry lane medical centre has a dedicated primary health care team based at Longridge.
We have a Practice Manager, who oversees the practice, and 16
members of staff which include 4 part-time practice nurses, a fundholding clerk,
9 receptionists and a computer operator. Our Practice nurses
are all very experienced and highly qualified. Patients can make an appointment
or speak to them over the telephone for advice. Two of our nurses are family planning
certified one holds the national asthma diploma one holds the diabetic diploma.
Constant training and development ensures the nurses skills are updated frequently.
Our Health Visitors are registered general nurses with extra
training in child development and preventative health. They have their own office
in Longridge Community Hospital, but spend most of their time visiting families
and
participating in baby clinics. They can be contacted at Longridge Community Hospital
on 01772 781100 between 9.00 a.m.
and 10.00 a.m. or alternatively leave a message and they will return your call.
The District Nurses work closely with other members of the medical
centre staff and receive referrals from both GPs and hospitals. They provide treatment
and care according to the needs of the patient and can also arrange for the loan
of equipment to help with the nursing of patients at home. They can be contacted
at the Health Centre by telephoning 01772 782831 Monday to Friday
8.30 a.m. - 5.00 p.m. and at weekends at Ribchester Hospital on 01772
782216.
The School Nurses are based at the Health Centre on 01772
782831. Their job is to advise schools and teachers about health related
issues.
Our Midwives run ante-natal clinics alongside the Doctors and
perform home visits to new mothers and babies. The midwives and health visitors
run ante natal relaxation classes. They can be contacted via Sharoe Green Hospital
on 01772 711495.
Our Community Psychiatric Nurses (CPN’s) offer a counselling
service, dealing with most aspects of psychiatric problems including depression,
anxiety, stress, bereavement and phobias. They can see you at home or at the medical
centre. They offer a confidential, individual approach working with patients to
help them resolve their problems. They can be contacted via the Doctors or by
telephoning 01772 783394 between 8.30 to 9.00 am week days.
An excellent Physiotherapy service is provided at Ribchester
Hospital. You must be referred by your doctor. They treat a whole variety of problems
including back pain, joint problems, incontinence, recovery after surgery or a
stroke etc.
